آج اکیلے بیٹھا ہوا تھا اک دوست یاد آیا
کچھ یادیں تازہ ہوئی کچھ سبق یاد آیا
ہم اتنے انمول تو نہیں مگر ہماری قدر یاد
رکھنا شاید میرے بعد میرے جیسے نہ ملیں
ایسے دوستوں سے کیا رسم بڑھائے کوئی
سر چڑھا کر جو نگاہوں سے گرا دیتے ہیں
مجھے پاگلوں سے دوستی کرنا پسند ہے
مصیبت میں کوئی سمجھدار کام نہیں آتا
دوست مصروف ہو گۓ اتنے
میں نے راز دوشمنوں سے بول دیے
دوست کو دولت کی نگاہ سے مت دیکھو
وفا کرنے والے دوست اکثر غریب ہوتے ہیں
خنجروں سے پوچھ نہ تلواروں سے پوچھ
میرے قتل کی وجہ میرے یاروں سے پوچھ
پرانے دوستوں کی ایک خوبصورت ادا یہ ہو تی کہ
کمبخت بوڑھے ہو جاتے ہیں بڑھے نہیں ہوتے
اے دوست دوستی کی لاج رکھنا
نیا دوست ملے ہمیں یاد رکھنا
شریکوں سے کہنا جلنا چھوڑ دیں
دوست خدا دیتا ہے لوگ نہیں
جو دل کے سارے درد بانٹ لے
ایسے دوست زندگی میں بہت کم ملتے ہیں
جن دوستوں سے برسوں کے مراسم تھے
گلے ملتے ہیں اب تو وہ بھی فاصلہ رکھ کر
خدا کرے ہماری دوستی کو نظر نہ لگے زمانے کی
یہ زمانہ دوستوں کو رہنے نہیں دیتا
نئے جب دوست بنتے ہیں پرانے بھول جاتے ہیں
نئے جب دل دکھاتے ہیں پرانے یاد آتے ہیں
چاہے میں بھول جاؤ زمانے کو میرے
دوست تیرے دوستی مجھے یاد رہے گی
